The Peace Creeps

After the breakup of the A's (a high profile 80's band from the Philadelphia area) singer Richard Bush tinkered around with a couple of short lived band projects, notable among them the Lion Choir and the Candles. Seeking to establish a sound foundation on which to build his new band Richard approached writer and artist AJay McLaughlin whom he had known from the pre-A's scene to see if they couldn't put together a few tunes. After much debate and sharing of what they thought was significant in music (rock, pop, folk, avant-garde, east coast, west coast, British invasion, Americana, psychedelic , Hi-fi, Lo-fi, rat pack, etc , etc, etc.) the pair established a litany of rules that they could break in compelling ways resulting in a catalog of songs both literate and melodic. Songs with the potential to rock like hell.
Transitshop

Transitshop is an emerging alternative/electronic band who first started gaining momentum after Nick Hexum of 311 got his hands on a copy of their debut EP in the summer of 2010. This energetic trio is the latest project from Philadelphia based musician and producer Chris O'Brien. While Chris is the group's principal and undisputed leader and songwriter, he is joined on his journey by two other rock steady musicians, bassist Steve Essinger, and Todd Butler on drums, both of which provide a killer rhythm section to O'Brien's distinct vocals, synth, and guitar work."
Chris was born in Maryland and raised in the Boston area where he first became interested in music at the early age of twelve when he began playing the guitar. He moved to the Baltimore area in his teens and finally landed in Philadelphia where he attended college, and now calls home.
Prior to forming Transitshop Chris served as a guitar player in other original bands and also honed his skills playing in night club cover bands in the tri-state area. He first gained some music production experience by working with others on short music projects for film, TV and advertising.
The music of Transitshop is unique and opulent in every sense of the word. O'Brien's unusual yet very effective songwriting techniques can only be described as impressive and inspiring to Transitshop's fans. Some songs are derived from his personal thoughts and experiences, some about the experiences of others, and some songs tell stories seen through other people's eyes.
Drawing inspiration from great bands and performers who put on energetic and captivating shows, Chris finds further inspiration and is highly influenced by some of the great legends and iconic bands like Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day and Alice in Chains. These and other bands like them have been the primary driving force for O'Brien's desire to make music his career.
