Max Burgundy
Max Burgundy
American music has been in a post-punk state for years - Max Burgundy is ready to lead the nostalgia parade to the starting line of post-hip hop America. Hailing from the Bronx, the genre’s birthplace - but currently residing in Brooklyn, home to the new arts movement in NYC - who better to do so than someone who has been down since its inception? Raised by a lone wolf of a single mother, petty street violence, John Singleton movies and the only genre he's ever known, Max Burgundy has never stopped paying attention to himself and his surroundings, and it shows.

With a sound described by some as equal parts Slug, MURS and Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Max Burgundy has a stage presence that is neither subtle nor ordinary. Max brings the emotion and anxiety of a tortured adolescence and early adulthood to his music and performance art. The result is an analysis of what it's like to be part of the last generation that will remember life before facebook, cell phones, the internet and Nickelodeon.

A true Lost Boy at heart, Max's rebel cry "Oreos for Breakfast" is a play on his self determination. He makes his own choices and encourages others to do the same. It's also a celebration of his biracial roots - and a celebration of the women who want to celebrate him the morning after.

Oreos for Breakfast! Until the Mayans tell us to stop!
Rone
Rone
By no means your ordinary rapper, Rone brings a fresh perspective to hip hop. With a style that spans from freestyle battle rapping to songwriting and crooning, it is apparent that his sound is new, unique and ever-developing.

Rone currently works with Dice Raw of the Legendary Roots Crew as well as his fleet of producers, many of whom have been instrumental in the production of the recent Root’s albums. He has shared the stage with artists such as Asher Roth, Cory Gunz, Wiz Khalifa, Dice Raw, and LMFAO.

His major influences in life are marijuana, alcohol, women and a daily desire to live the shit out of life. As far as strictly musical influences? Rone enjoys the complete rapping skills and pedigree of the likes of Biggie, Black Thought and Eminem. He appreciates the grandiosity and magnitude of acts like the Kings of Leon and the Black Keys. Favorite songwriters include John Mayer and Regina Spektor. Finally, he admires the individuality of a Gwen Stefani, the conviction of a Will Smith and the versatility of a Kid Rock.
Zilla Rocca
Zilla Rocca
Zilla Rocca, the black cherry plucker, public pool poisoner, Scorsese Cinephile, bottle breaker, corner store crusher, root beer fade fanatic, dime store detective, pulp fiction sage, comic book kingpin, noir-hop creator. A man of many hats who dips in and out of the Philadelphia consciousness since 2006. What would you expect from an emcee/producer influenced equally by Wu-Tang, Tom Waits, and Raymond Chandler?

Whether collaborating closely with Philly bass giant Starkey, Has-Lo of Mello Music Group, or Half Past Never Band straight outta Helsinki, Zilla brings his blend of worn leather zen, deft storytelling, and lucid imagery without pause. Whether solo or as one-half of the noir hop outfit 5 O'Clock Shadowboxers with producer Douglas Martin aka Blurry Drones, Zilla Rocca has quietly stayed prolific but never redundant.

His music has been featured in URB, 2DopeBoyz, LA Weekly, MySpace Featured Music, Philly Weekly, and more. He has performed in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami, New York, and almost everywhere in Philadelphia over the years.

As a solo artist and with Curly Castro as 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers live, Zilla has shared the stage with Mount Kimbie, Shlohmo, The Knux, Black Sheep, Nocando, One.Be.Lo, Elucid of Lessondary Crew, Random aka MegaRan, Buff 1, Reef the Lost Cauze, Open Mike Eagle, Kuf Knotz, Has-Lo, and more.
