Dry Reef
Dry Reef
DRY REEF is a group dedicated to establishing a wave of high-energy, uplifting music. Rooted in the rock/reggae sound that put them on the map, the young group incorporates inflections of indie-surf rock and electronic post-rock forming a refreshing, organic sound you cannot ignore. These 23-year-olds are rapidly evolving from dreamers to decision-leaders in the industry.

With the 2018 release of their "Alright Revival EP" the band portrays their rapid growth in performing, creating, and exploring their sound throughout 2017, and the excitement is felt with every song.

From Philadelphia -- a city with a long and rich recorded history with Cameo-Parkway, Philly International as well as vocal groups like the Soul Survivors, Stylistics and Hall and Oates -- emerges a new singer who mines the Blue Eyed Soul genre in a slightly different way. Cookie Rabinowitz has dubbed his music "Four Eyed Soul," as a nod to Philly's rich history of Blue Eyed Soul. This aesthetic encompasses funk, hip-hop, rock, and R&B. Fittingly, the First release from Cookie Rabinowitz is Four Eyed Soul (Electric Roots). Rabinowitz started out as a classic introspective singer-songwriter. But, all that changed when he met hip-hop pioneer Schoolly D. The two, plus the band's guitarist Erik Horvitz, began creating collaboratively on the animated urban music interview show entitled The Cookie Rabinowitz Show. Cookie has also contributed his voice and his songwriting talents to television shows such as The Ghost Whisperer, Men in Trees, and Cartoon Network's Aqua Teen Hunger Force. These outside band activities have informed his musicality both in his vibrant songwriting and his penchant for theatrics in a live setting. Cookie eventually toured with Schoolly and a cadre of iconic rappers, including Public Enemy. "The rap community really embraced me, it was eye opening. Schoolly let me do my thing and shine – I was able to sing and play guitar at 3,000 capacity venues," Cookie recalls. "That inspired me to dive into that world." At the end of the tour, Rabinowitz became a DJ at a Gentlemen's club. There he discovered his musical tastes being driven in a different direction. The "on-the-job-demand" for rugged beats and smoldering hooks took his music even further away from his singer songwriter roots. According to Rabinowitz the Four Eyed Soul vibe is futuristic and classic, an eclectic mix that evokes Stevie Wonder and Sly & The Family Stone among others. Together with singer songwriter/producer Tony Reyes (Cee Lo Green, Wiz Kalifa and Snoop Dogg, Musiq Soulchild, Neyo and Leona Lewis) they embarked on making that eclectic mix a reality. Personnel on the CD also includes Tone Whitfield, bassist for GRAMMY nominee Bilal; Jimmy Coleman, former drummer/percussionist for such acts as John Legend and Eric Hutchinson; and EVI-player, John Swana, touted as one of the most exciting trumpet players of the decade and co-author of Blackwell's Guide to Recorded Jazz.
Apple Juice Jones
Apple Juice Jones
Apple Juice Jones explores songs that are generally anchored in soulful composition, but leave room for improvisational exploration. The band's music aims to tell stories and to always leave room for what is inherently called for in the present moment.
